“I have to be connected when I exercise. I cycle with my backpack, and in the leisure centre, they built a special box where I can put my tank so I can use the gym and do aerobics 5 days a week. Both my parents were carriers, and because I was fit all my life, my body learnt how to deal with less oxygen. I didn’t even realized until a day in 1996. I was cleaning the oven and breathed in the chemicals, and that triggered it. I’m delighted I can still do this and that I don’t have to be on a waiting list for a donor. Exercise is a very important part of my life, and today I’m doing the marathon for myself and for those who are in a similar situation.”
