“I wanted to get some farming experience, so I went to Spain to live on a permaculture farm in the mountains. I can’t remember how high it was, but I remember one morning looking around and we were in the clouds. I was helping repair a dome in the field, and it was a perpetual task, but an amazing experience. It was an hour and a half walk to the closest village and those few weeks made me realize I really need human interaction in my life… They had very little electricity, from solar panels, and they only used it for a dehydrator and a washing machine. Some days, not having enough sun meant not charging our phones…. But it was very peaceful, and I’m sure there’s an energy of places like this that make people want to go back… I started to feel the same, so I’m going back next week for a little more experience.”
