“Two weeks ago I was really drunk, and a policewoman found me and I got locked up for two weeks. They told me I was making trouble. They just let me out today and gave me a charge sheet that says I have to keep out of trouble for 12 months. You know, I can’t even remember why I got locked up, but if I don’t drink for two days I get the shakes. This piece of paper is the only thing I have in my pockets… I have nothing else. The older I get, the harder life gets… The alcohol consumed my life, you know? I’m 68 now I have nowhere to live, I have no ID, no birth cert, no medical card… I just take one day at a time, but still the hardest thing is to stay out of trouble…”
