“I have three children; me and their mum separated five years ago and she has recently decided with her new partner that the kids don’t need their father anymore. In the last six months, I’ve been fighting for the access I’ve always had. I’ve just been ousted by my ex, the courts have also ousted me and heavily lean in favour of mums… People think that it’s fine for the family court to operate behind closed doors, but it’s not, it’s a social scandal… There’s no consistency. I know people who have committed crimes or had drug problems and they get to see their kids more often than I do. I just want to see my kids, and they want to see me… I’m sure I’m not the only one in these shoes. People talk about equal rights but they must highlight the fact there’s nothing even close to equal rights in the family courts…”
