“I met her in a dusty village in Northern Kenya. I’d just spent a month trekking with a charity that uses camels to deliver medication to isolated tribal communities. When we arrived back at base camp with the camels, Emma was there helping out. I fell for her straight away. She was so full of laughter, had this mad curly red hair, a big cheesy smile and an amazing Irish accent, which being from Yorkshire was something new to me then. I have no idea what attracted her to me… I was a bit of a mess, I had been living in a tent for a month, washing in rivers and cleaning my teeth with a twig. So I’ve concluded, she just must have a weird thing for sunburnt men who smell of camels!”
