“I was a web designer back in Brazil. I used to work in a building just like these ones, so the environment is similar, just the job title is different. I’m working as a cleaner part time while studying. In my country, I’d never think or see myself working as a cleaner. It would mean absolute failure. In Brazil, there’s not much care or respect for people in these positions, but it’s completely different here. They don’t look down on you and you still feel valued. It’s not hard, but to be on a different continent without having plans of going back home is tough.”
