“I used to be a teacher in a secondary school. I had many plans for my retired years, but only two months after the day of my retirement I got a stroke out of the blue and lost the use of my right side. That was three and half years ago now. It’s very hard to accept that I won’t be able to drive a car or play golf again, but I won’t give up. I come here every morning when it’s dry. This is my exercise track. I live close by and it’s the perfect place for me to walk as I can sit down at any time if I get tired. I do a good few rounds every morning while listening to the radio. It’s great exercise, not only for my body, but for my mind too. This was one of the most important things I was trying to teach to my students too. You should stay positive and never give up.”
