“Everyone’s epilepsy is different. There’s an enormous spectrum… I’m at the incredibly lucky end of it, whereby I’m managed by medication… I take 4 pills a day and I don’t have seizures. For some people, regardless of the amount of medication, and the amount of combinations that are tried, they are still having multiple seizures a day and they are in a completely different place. It is an impossible thing to attempt to have to live through. Being the national patron for Epilepsy Ireland has been one of the most fulfilling things about my professional life, ever. I know it may seem strange, but if you were to tell me in the morning that I could just switch off my epilepsy… or continue to have it and do some small amount of good by doing what I do for them, I’d pick the latter.”
