Maria, if you’re reading (and I know you are), I have one question

Four years ago, I started working in a sandwich bar. I’d been in Ireland about five years at that point and I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life. There was a girl there that I really liked spending time with – we had a connection. About three months into my new job, we started going out. My life changed completely. She was beautiful, smart, outgoing and she believed in me. With her help, for the first time I began to think seriously about the future. If it hadn’t been for her, I’d never have been brave enough to follow my dream of becoming a photographer.
I left my job, I went back to study and I started Humans of Dublin. At the start, it wasn’t easy. I had no job and no contacts, all I had was a camera and an idea. But she never stopped encouraging me and offering support in every imaginable way. Because of her, my life totally changed. As her career began to take off, mine did too. Humans of Dublin grew and grew, and now I spend every day doing what I love. without her, none of this would have been possible.

The last four years have been the best of my life. When you meet that person who changes everything, who you’re meant to be with, why wouldn’t you do everything in your power to keep them in your life?

Maria, if you’re reading (and I know you are), I have one question: Will you marry me?

– Last Friday, Maria opened the first copy of the Humans of Dublin book, with our story on the last page. She said YES! 🙂
