“Life hasn’t always been fair and I guess living abroad in one of the world’s safest cities proved to be both a sad and vulnerable experience for me. I was sexually assaulted in Vancouver. Not many people know about it at all. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it was scary, but I couldn’t have prevented it from happening. And it changed my life. Because of it, I’ve had healing beyond my wildest dreams. We should never be ashamed or shy away from our experiences in life, good or bad. The people that have shown compassion and support for me are the reason I can be open about this sort of thing. And now I’m so much more compassionate for people too. It has helped me be the happy person I am today.”
