Her unconditional love to us and her innocent view about the world is a real gift

2/2 “I was just recovering from an emergency c-section, when my husband comes in and says he has the worst news he will ever have to tell me. I thought he was going to tell me she was dead. So when he said she had Down Syndrome, I was devastated, but so relieved because I thought I’d lost her! I remember holding her in my arms for the first time, imagining her as an adult with Down Syndrome, walking down the road all alone. It was a terrible vision, and it just feels like a bad dream now, but years ago there was this concept of people with Down Syndrome or any special needs which wasn’t too bright. I’m so happy it’s gone now. If I knew the things I know now, I’m sure I wouldn’t be crying for a minute! Her unconditional love to us and her innocent view about the world is a real gift, and places like Blossom Ireland are clear evidence of an even brighter future.”
