“I was born and raised in Canada, but my mother is Irish, and like Irish all over the world, she took all her traditions and culture with her. I was brought up with this affinity, and I always dreamt of living in Ireland one day, but I was never brave enough to do it. I was 31 when I broke up with my boyfriend of eleven years, and for the first time in my life, I was able to make my own decisions without having to consult anyone.
I put it in my mind that I’d pursue my dream and move to Ireland. I never made a crazy decision like this before but I felt I needed a change and this was my calling. It’s funny, the moment I put my feet on the ground here, everything worked out like a fairy-tale. I went on a 6-day bus tour around Ireland with my friend, and we became very good friends with the bus driver. We talked to him about starting a new life here, and he offered his apartment to live in while I looked for a job and a place to live, seeing as he was on the road 6 days a week.
Soon after, I applied for a position in Guinness, and a week later I was working here. I’ve been here 11 years now, and it still feels like a dream. I love this country, and working here makes me feel like the whole world is coming to visit me.”
