We sailed across the South Atlantic many times

“We used to have this beautiful sailing boat called the Galway Hooker. It was very old Irish style; a fairly small boat, but well built for the Atlantic Ocean. We sailed across the South Atlantic many times on it. We went on holidays and all sorts of get-togethers of old tall ships all over Europe. It only had a very small cabin so we mostly slept outside on the deck. I remember so vividly one night, just before sunset, the sea was so calm and the sky and the clouds were painted in every shade of blue, purple, orange and red you could imagine. We were just laying there looking up at the sky when suddenly a group of so-called flying fish flew out of the water right over our boat like a huge cloud of birds shining beautifully…
I miss my husband so much. I miss going sailing with him. Twenty-seven years wasn’t near enough of him. It’s so unfair that you men die and leaves us women alone.”
