“My grandson is going to be six on Friday and so we decided to take him to watch the Nutcracker Suite from Tchaikovsky. He really enjoyed it and after we came home, he went straight to the bedroom and converted it into a play. Once it was well organised, he started to act the male part of the suite. When I saw it, I felt like I was seeing a miracle. It was brilliant! He picked up the essence of the music yet nobody had ever given him any lessons in ballet. I am a great lover of the arts and I saw some of me in him. Seeing the continuity felt wonderful because just when you know your own life is coming to an end, it gives you a great sense of comfort that a part of you will go on, not only for one but two or more generations.”
